JOB SUMMARY :

Plans and implements the child care program, supervises staff. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only and are subject to flexibility dependent on organizational needs.

Completes all Division of Early Care and Learning licensing requirements; follows and enforces Rules Regulating School-Age Child Care Centers.

Follows and enforces all procedures as stated in the CCSD ECS Procedures Manual.

Works directly with children during times they are present in the before and after school program.

Manages and directs child care program.

Supervises child care program staff.

Exhibits excellent communication with parents, students, school staff, district staff and coworkers.

Follows district policies and goals and uses district facilities with care.

Attends monthly meetings as required.

Maintain accurate financial and program records in accordance with district procedure.

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

The minimum amounts of formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be met for a candidate to be considered for a position

The Before and After School Director must be age 21 or over.

To qualify for the position, the director must have completed at least one of the following:
a. A four-year college degree with such majors as recreation, outdoor education, education with a specialty in art, elementary or early childhood education, or a subject in the human services field.
b. Two (2) years of college (60 semester credits) training and 6 months (910 hours) of satisfactory and verifiable full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience, since attaining the age of 18, of 4 or more unrelated school age children.

Verification of qualifications must be in the employee's Staff Records File.

Each year, June 1 through May 31, the director must complete at least 15 clock hours of training.

Experience in a paid child care program, para-educator experience, or any licensed teaching experience.

The director must demonstrate an ability and interest in working with school age children.

Thorough and current knowledge of all aspects of childcare.

Strong leadership and management skills.

Excellent problem solving and decision-making ability.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Computer skills.

Complete the department-approved course in Injury Prevention.

Complete the Department-approved course in playground safety for School-Aged Child Care Centers.

Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire

MINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES :

The minimum certifications and licenses that must be met, valid, and unexpired for a candidate to be considered for a position

Current First Aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain within thirty (30) days.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Any job-related formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, licenses, and other criteria that are inessential and in addition to the minimum qualifications, certifications, and licenses

Paid licensed child-care program, teaching assistant/para-educator, or licensed teaching experience

Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds

Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS :

The physical exertion, cognitive capacities, and work environments required to perform a position's duties and responsibilities

Light work strength level (lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds)

Occasional lifting, pulling, and/or pushing.

Frequent bending, reaching, climbing.

Visual concentration.

Squatting.

Working with others.
