Behavioral Health Medical Assistant JOB SUMMARY:
Preform intake triage, assist patient with mental health screenings, vital signs, and referrals to labs.
Coordinate with the intake coordinator and front desk staff regarding psychiatric and counseling services.
The MA will maintain high levels of confidentiality and attention to detail in CCAP's Electronic Health Record (NextGen) to include vitals, lab results, patient communications, and screening tools.
The MA will manage collection of urine samples and send orders via the electronic interface.
The MA will be responsible for scheduling appointments with department providers and adjusting schedules as necessary.
The MA will answer agency phones in a kind and respectful manner and make referrals to internal services as well as external resources when needed.
WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS: This is a full-time position.
Part time when specified by the Office Manager or Director.
Must be able to work evenings.
Occasional unscheduled overtime may be required in the event of vacation time or short staffing.
May be required to work at any CCAP location KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Obtain and process patient vitals (BP, Wt., Ht., Pulse, Temp, and Urine if requested by provider/clinician) Update and maintain patient history, external coordination of care records, and other medical records in EHR.
Operate and maintain clinical equipment Fill out lab and state transmittals Properly dispose of medical waste and sharps Schedule/cancel appointments Confirm next day appointments Properly document in EMR Chart Clean and stock working area/lab Alert appropriate person of supplies needed Answer phones in courteous manner Take accurate, legible phone messages and medication requests Secure department and end of shift if last to leave, unplug equipment, lock medication cabinets, and shut off lights.
Computer literate Assist with administrative tasks as needed Treat client and families with respect and dignity Adhere to agency policies and professional code of ethics Other duties as needed Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, GED Medical Assistant Certification Triage skills MMR and TB Vaccinations Organizational skills Strong interpersonal communication and written skills Excellent communication skills for all levels of client, provider, and colleague interaction.
Professional and respectful telephone manner Current CPR (BLS) certifications Bilingual/Bicultural Spanish a plus CONFIDENTIALITY OF INFORMATION:
Full access to client's medical record and some access to financial/statistical material.
Maintains client confidentiality at all levels of interaction in accordance with State and Federal Laws and CCAP Policies and Procedures.
