SUMMARY: Manage the day-to-day administration of employee benefit plans companywide.
Manages internal Benefits Department staff and assists Leadership in determining procedures to perform.
Resolves most issues independently, with elevated matters being referred to the appropriate leadership person.
Frequent contact with employees, supervisor, insurance carriers, vendors and/or third-party administrators is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Supervises administration of employee benefits programs including retirement medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance and others.
Works with the benefits broker to ensure all invoices are reconciled timely and sent to accounting or payment Handles benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution.
Managers all employee leaves to include FMLA, LTD, STD, and internal 30 days leaves Manages and approves all ADA requests following all policies and best practices Maintains contact in person, and by phone or e-mail, with hospitals, physicians, insurance companies, employees, and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits for all employees.
Coordinates Workers Comp first report of injury and all required logs Manage workers comp claims with insurance carrier facilitating employees' return to work in a timely manner Managers 401k hardship withdrawals and reconciliation of monthly deductions to the TPA Supervises maintenance of records.
Supervises maintenance of enrollment, application, and claims inquiries for all benefit plans.
Possesses a superior technical knowledge of the workings of group insurance plans - plan documents, summary plan descriptions and other insurance mechanisms.
Coordinate wellness activities in order to promote healthy lifestyles to benefit employees and assist in the reduction of claims Assists in evaluating and comparing existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information.
Plans, develops, and/or participates in area and industry surveys.
Analyzes results of surveys and develops specific recommendations for review by management.
Assists in developing specifications for new plans or modifies existing plans to maintain company's competitive position in labor market and obtain uniform benefit packages for all company locations where possible Assists in recommending new or modified plans.
Develops census data and solicits insurance companies for quotations.
Evaluate quotations and makes recommendations to management.
Develops company cost information for new plans and makes recommendations concerning sharing of cost between employer and employee.
Implements new plans and changes by preparing announcement material, booklets, and other media for communicating new plans to employees.
Conducts employee meetings and arranges for enrollment of employees in optional plans.
Conducts employee benefit seminars for local personnel.
Revises and reissues all communications material on benefits.
Advises and counsels management and employees on existing benefits.
Prepares and executes, with legal consultation, benefit documentation such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies.
Instructs insurance carriers, trustees, and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in benefit program.
Ensures prompt and accurate compliance.
Assures company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
Supervises preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies.
Reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and reports necessary or suggested changes to management.
Develops benefit information and statistical and census data for actuaries, insurance carriers, and management.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Must know the principles, practices, and procedures of benefits administration.
4 years' experience navigating various retirement plan approaches including 401(k) and non-qualified plans.
6 years of supervisory/management experience, as well vendor/contract management experience.
Sound knowledge of group insurance and risk management principles and strategies.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have strong analytical skills and pay attention to details with the ability.

Self-motivated/self-starter, can take initiative, can work independently without supervision, and can step in to support other HR department initiatives; Can work well under pressure.
