Job Summary The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the effective administration of the company's benefits programs. This includes overseeing disability claims, managing medical enrollments, handling insurance billing, ensuring ACA compliance, and processing employee leave requests. The role involves supporting key HR functions, including payroll, audits, and compliance reporting, to ensure accuracy, maintain legal compliance, and enhance overall employee satisfaction.
**This role is onsite Monday-Friday at our Elmhurst, IL location** Core ResponsibilitiesManage Employee Leaves: Administer all employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, short-term and long-term disability, work injury leaves, etc. Ensure accurate tracking and compliance with federal, state, and company policies.Oversee Medical Enrollments: Provide key support for the annual open enrollment project, changes, and terminations for employee medical, dental, vision, and other benefit plans. Serve as the primary point of contact for employees with benefits-related questions.Reconcile Medical Bills: Review and reconcile monthly medical and insurance billing statements, resolving discrepancies and ensuring accurate payments.Process Unemployment Claims: Handle the filing and follow-up of unemployment claims, gathering necessary documentation and maintaining compliance with state requirements.Compliance: Generate regular and ad-hoc HR reports related to benefits, employee participation, and other metrics to inform leadership and support HR initiatives. Maintain compliance with ACA, COBRA, retirement and other federal and state regulations. Prepare necessary documentation and reports for audits and legal compliance.Vendor Relations: Assists with the process of providing external employee benefit vendors with data for eligibility, enrollment and other related data points in a HIPPA compliant way. Supports and facilitates and manages employee benefit vendor relationships including employee benefits broker, health plan providers and risk providers. Data Management: Manage HRIS benefit data management activities to ensure data integrity and compliance.QualificationsBachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.Minimum of 4+ years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR function.Strong knowledge of ACA, FMLA, COBRA, and other relevant regulations.Proficiency in HRIS and benefits management software.Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.SkillsStrong attention to detail with an analytical ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently follow through on projects. Able to work as part of a team, managing competing demands and deadlines. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in an evolving environment with enthusiasm.Demonstrated ability to lead and interact effectively with management and other departments as well as outside agencies and partners. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, database). ADP software experience highly desirable.
