Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Benefits Services Manager, the Benefits Specialist acts as the first point of contact for staff/faculty in benefits eligible positions at CSULB. Incumbent be the lead for all Benefits presentations, New Hire Orientation sessions, and Open Enrollment educational events. Incumbent will support the Subject Matter Expert in CHRS in the implementation, testing, of the Benefits module and assist in maintaining the date integrity of the system and participating in planning/status calls. In addition, has responsibility for auditing benefits information and keying data for CSULB employees into the PeopleSoft and PIMS systems. Assists with other administrative tasks and acts as backup for keying data into PeopleSoft and PIMS for the Chancellor's Office employees. The position has access to confidential/sensitive employee data.
Key Responsibilities
Incumbent will be the lead for all Benefits presentations, New Hire Orientation sessions, and Open Enrollment and educational events. Administrative duties for department related to DocuSign, forms creation, ATI compliance activity and website updates. Acts as main resource for Benefits Services Quality Assurance Specialist.
PeopleSoft/Benefits Administration Processes- Operation, Benefits Enrollment and Maintenance of Employee Benefits Administration. Has primary responsibility for data entry and maintenance of PeopleSoft with respect to benefits data for assigned group. This includes activities related to the quarterly Dependent Eligibility Verification (DEV) processing. Reviews error reports, performs ongoing audits, and makes needed corrections. Incumbent will support the Subject Matter Expert in CHRS in the implementation, testing of the Benefits Module and assist in maintaining the data integrity of the system and participating in planning and status calls. Incumbent will run /process ACA reports in PeopleSoft and SCO system.
Answers employee benefits-related calls and responds to emails in a timely and accurate manner. Meets with employees in person and virtually to respond to benefits related questions.
Affordable Care Act Data Entry Enrollment and Tracking activities. Performs ACA/SCO server data entry functions, audits for accuracy and completeness of data to ensure integrity for Federal reporting requirements. Meets key deadlines.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of HR/Personnel issues, methods and procedures related to benefits administration. Demonstrated ability to perform all key responsibilities. Ability to perform data entry at an appropriate rate of speed with acceptable accuracy. Demonstrated organizational skills. Ability to coordinate many different projects tasks, determine relative importance of each, prioritize and set appropriate deadlines to complete all tasks accordingly. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively utilize the CMS baseline PeopleSoft, HR System; PeopleSoft experience preferred.
Ability to run processes, monitor process completion and interpret results. Team player: ability to share responsibility and ownership for team goals and results. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to understand and take direction but work independently when appropriate. Ability to make substantial contribution to the continued operation and growth of the organization. Experience working on a diverse academic organization. Strong writing skills and experience creating presentations.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Education and Experience
Equivalent to four years of administrative support experience required.
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Working knowledge of PeopleSoft functionality preferred.
Prior experience working with employee benefits or payroll is a plus.
Strong customer service skills and communication abilities preferred.
Strong live/virtual presentation skills preferred.

Physical Summary
Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
CSU Classification Salary Range:The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,864 - $6,072 per month.
Benefits
Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.
Time Base
1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment
This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
