AJM Packaging Corporation, one of America's leading manufacturers of paper products, including paper plates, cups, bowls and bags, has an immediate opening for an HR Generalist in our El Cajon, CA facility.
Responsibilities & Duties: Serve as a resource in strategic and tactical approaches to HR in areas including employee development, employee relations, policy and procedure development, training, compensation and benefits, and performance evaluation within the manufacturing plant. Assist managers with appropriate resolution of employee relations issues, coaching them regarding performance concerns, attendance, and other opportunities for improvement. Identify, investigate, and resolve issues of employee concern or conflict in an appropriate and timely manner. Responsible for coordinating and partnering to drive employee engagement efforts. Conduct investigations as needed for employee relations concerns, complaints, and policy violations, escalating when necessary. Provide Employee Relations support, through partnership, and coaching for all employees and levels of management in the organization. Proactively assess team and manager development needs, make recommendations, and implement appropriate solutions. Audit time and attendance records for 300+ employees, and submit payroll on a bi-weekly basis. Ensure appropriate processing of documentation for benefits programs such as life, health, dental, and disability insurance, vacation and sick leave, and other leaves of absence. Prepare employee termination forms and related documentation. When plausible, conduct exit interviews to determine reason for separations. Schedule and conduct new employee orientations. Engage in recruiting activity whenever necessary for both salary, technical, and hourly staff. Respond to inquiries regarding human resources-related policies, procedures, and programs. Provide appropriate resolution of issues and inform the corporate office of any non-standard issues or events that may require additional attention. Assist Corporate Human Resources in the implementation and initiation of any new or changing human resources policy, procedure, or program at the plant level. Ensure performance reviews for the plant are conducted in a proper and timely manner. Maintain records of personnel activities such as hires, promotions, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, and terminations, as well as injury summaries. All other duties the Supervisor deems necessary. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in human resources-related field preferred. Three or more years of related experience. Previous experience in a manufacturing/plant level environment is preferred. Possess strong organizational skills and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must have the ability to work in a manufacturing environment, spending time on the plant floor and engaging employees on problem solving. Must be able to multi-task. Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations. Ability to speak fluent Spanish required.
