In response to the humanitarian crisis at Americas ports of entry, Devereux provides short-term shelter care services for unaccompanied children who have come to the United States without a parent or legal guardian.
Devereux provides extremely high-quality, trauma-informed residential and educational services for unaccompanied children, with support for their social and emotional health.
We also ensure they receive excellent and immediate physical healthcare including pediatric, dental and nutritional supports for every child.

Devereuxs ultimate goal is to ensure every unaccompanied child who receives our services is successfully and quickly discharged into the loving care of their family sponsor.
During the short time they are with us, we ensure they have received best-in-class medical, therapeutic, recreational and educational services designed specifically to address the traumas they have sustained during, and often before, their migration journey.
This is a very high benchmark to set, but we have already begun partnering with leading legal defense nonprofits to ensure children in our care have access to the finest immigration advocates and support our country offers.

Position As the Training Specialist you will support our Devereux Massachusetts Learning department by assisting in the onboarding and development of new employees in the Unaccompanied Childrens Services (UCS) Program within the first 90 days of their employment, as well as providing ongoing training and refreshers.
This includes but is not limited to, ensuring the implementation and documentation of all learning received throughout orientation.

Provide ongoing education and training in compliance with all Office of Refugee Resettlements - Division of Health
for Unaccompanied Children (ORR-DHUCs) policies and guidelines ORR standards.

Ensures learning needs are met in accordance with all licensing/governing agencies on a monthly basis
and Identify ways to motivate employees for completing their learning paths.

Updates and maintains complete and accurate learning records for all ORR employees.
Meets with ORR inspectors to review/discuss records.

Monitor and document learning events within the learning management system (LMS) to ensure compliance.
Uses learning management
reporting to assess and communicates trends locally and with national stakeholders.

Collaborates with Shelter Program Team and National Learning Team.

Observe and document staff/individual interactions and provide prompt feedback to staff and their supervisor in person and in writing regarding
performance and program consistency with learning and competency standards.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (behavioral health, child welfare, adult learning, etc), Master's degree preferred.
Minimum two (2) years of experience in a behavioral health/child welfare setting.
Minimum three (3) years of experience as a trainer or presenter for adult learners.
Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
Additionally:
Fully immunized/vaccinated (or have a medical/religious exemption) for Varicella, MMR, TdAp, Influenza prior to starting.
Must be 21 years of age or older (per licensing standards) Valid driver's license Devereux conducts a very thorough background check process to ensure the safety of the children in our care.
Devereux has a zero-tolerance policy for abuse and maintains policies and procedures to systematically reduce the risk of abuse to occur in our organization.
Devereux fosters a culture of reporting abuse, and will cooperate with the authorities to the fullest extent possible.
