Summary
The Billing Specialist performs electronic and manual billing for assigned agencies.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing on-line corrections and inquiries for assigned agencies, conducting periodic billing and reimbursement audits.
Provides weekly, monthly and special billing reports as required.

Verifies software updates are done timely.Ensures OASIS data is transmitted timely.Provides written feedback to the Supervisor regarding on-hold claims.Contact payors, fiscal intermediaries and other agencies when needed.Provides recommendations for needed policies and procedures.Maintains billing activity records and policies and procedures.Works appeals, collections and billing follow-up for outstanding balances.
Performs the filing of billing documents in a timely manner.Attends weekly and monthly meetings as required.Coordinates activities with the Supervisor and co-workers.Assist other co-workers with the billing process of unassigned agencies.Keeps abreast of fiscal intermediary, federal, local, state and internal changes and clarifications.Maintains a professional demeanor and the confidentiality of information at all times.Provides timely reports for the Supervisor.Establishes and maintains positive relationships, and open communication with all internal and external departments in the work flow process.Ensures confidentiality and reliability of corporate data, proprietary information, and intellectual property.Assist with all duties assigned by the Supervisor. Qualifications Education, Experience & Job Requirements
This position requires at least the following minimum requirements:
1-3 years of billing experience in a health care environment.Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance standards/regulations.
Excellent analytical skills and ability to resolve complex problems with multiple variables.Strong communication and problem solving skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Able to set priorities, recognition of problems and implement interventions.Capable of promoting a team approach in the workplace.Initiative skills such as the ability to take charge, set objectives, results oriented and a team player.Demonstrated the ability to work in a proactively diverse and inclusive organization.
Must have excellent written communication by writing clearly and informatively, edits work and able to read and interpret legal written information.
Demonstrates accuracy thoroughness and follows through on commitments.
Must practice a high level of confidentiality and be able to effectively response to questions from employees, managers and outside entities.
Must be able to work with others to resolve issues and maintain composure in an environment of changing priorities.
Must have knowledge of all company policies and procedures.
Must be able to work on a timetable, follow instructions, respond to management direction and solicit feedback to improve performance.
Should have excellent character references and solid work background.
Must be able to read, write and speak English/Spanish is preferred.Must have knowledge and proficiency of office computer equipment and software (particularly advanced skills in excel).
Demonstrate the ability to multi task and work in a fast-paced office setting.
Proven ability to cope with conflict, stress and crisis situations. Driving & Other Requirements
Must have and maintain a valid state driver license, have a registered and reliable vehicle that meets state law standards, and meets the insurance standards of the company.
Position requires travel between company sites as well as the community.
Traveling by car or airplanes to local or out-of-town meetings, seminars, and conferences.
