Biomechanics Engineer

Details of the offer

About Us: KinaTrax's mission is to provide professional and collegiate teams with game-changing insights about their most valuable asset: their athletes. We deliver research-grade markerless motion capture technology that allows teams to collect in-game biomechanical performance data on their athletes. KinaTrax camera systems are currently deployed in over 50 stadiums & labs across MLB, MiLB, & NCAA organizations – and expanding rapidly. Our comprehensive data capture & analysis tools are operationalized for daily use by players, GM's, coaches, trainers, medical staff, and beyond. As the market leader in Major League Baseball, KinaTrax has established itself as a foundational part of the teams' day-to-day strategy and decision-making machine. We are constantly innovating and looking to recruit talented teammates to help us continue to revolutionize this space. Your contributions will focus on bringing the next generation of athlete performance data, across a variety of sports, to teams worldwide.
Job Description: The Biomechanics Engineer will work alongside the larger KinaTrax product development team with a particular focus on biomechanics algorithm development within multiple sports-related markets. You will work closely with the Director of Product Development and other members of the data visualization team to deliver consistent biomechanics results that can be used to provide actionable insights to our clients for purposes of player development, player health monitoring, scouting, etc. You may also be asked to lead research initiatives related to data validation, data quality, and establishing future ROI for prospective customers. At times, you may also be expected to meet with current and prospective clients for troubleshooting and inquiries related to KinaTrax supplied biomechanics datasets. As part of your role, you will collaborate with other members of the product development team on specific projects, where at times you may be expected to be a project lead, and delegate tasks to other members of the development team.
Key Responsibilities: Continued development of biomechanics algorithms used for KinaTrax Dugout and other future data visualization products, based on industry trends and client feedback. Lead research projects related to novel biomechanical data concepts, improving overall data accuracy/reliability, and helping to establish further use cases and ROI of KinaTrax products. Collaborate with members of the development team to ensure data visualization and API data egress methods provide actionable insights for current and future clientele. Manage client requests regarding biomechanics algorithms. Perform proper quality assurance testing when implementing development changes to production. Assist with the integration of third-party hardware and data solutions to provide contextualization of biomechanics results as needed. Maintain a high level of understanding of industry trends both within the applied and research biomechanics space to ensure KinaTrax stays up to date with industry trends. Lead other biomechanical engineers on project specific tasks as needed. Assist with other non-biomechanics related product development tasks. Qualifications/Experience: Proficient in programming languages (preferably Visual3D, Python, C++, and/or R). Proficient in biomechanics methods and analyses related to the concepts of inverse kinematics, inverse dynamics, linear algebra, and signal processing. Proficient in applied biomechanics, including a high-level understanding of how markerless biomechanics data are applied for player development, injury risk, and scouting decisions. Proficient with all aspects of motion capture technology, including camera setup, calibration, and third-party integration devices (i.e. force plates). Experience with research methods and statistical design. Effective communication skills that will translate for internal and client facing purposes. Proven ability to work in a team setting, preferably as part of a product development team. Passion for sports and the use of athlete performance metrics. Additional Information: This is a remote based position but some travel to company locations and client sites may be needed.
