Note: This position will be based on the Stanford campus and is a hybrid (working on-site and working from home) subject to operational need.
The Stanford-Surgery Policy Improvement Research and Education (S-SPIRE) Unit is committed to:
Improving the value of healthcare through research that informs policy and implementation;Promoting a surgical health services research community through mentorship and collaboration.Our interdisciplinary team includes clinical and research faculty with expertise in implementation science, health economics, bioinformatics, and quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methodologies.
We are seeking a Biostatistician 1 to work closely with senior statistician(s) to manage relevant databases, design studies, devise analysis plans, create analytic files, implement analysis plans, and report and publish findings.
Duties include: Designing studies.Implementing protocols for quality control.Creating analytic files with detailed documentation.Implementing data analysis through statistical programming.Presenting results for investigators using graphs and tables.Summarizing findings orally and in written form.Participating in the preparation of papers for publication.* - Other duties may also be assigned. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Previous work experience in an academic institution or academic hospital setting preferred.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED): Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED): Proficiency in at least two of R, SAS, SPSS, or STATA.Skills in descriptive analysis, modeling of data, and graphic interfaces.Outstanding ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*: Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, seated work, and use light/fine grasping.Occasionally stand, walk, write by hand, and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.* - Consistent with its obligations under the law, the University will provide reasonable accommodation to any employee with a disability who requires accommodation to perform the essential functions of his or her job. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
