About the job Turning Point Brands (TPB) is seeking a Brand Director for the Zig-Zag segment, inclusive of Zig-Zag and our lighter business. This role is part of the Revenue organization, reporting directly to the Head of Marketing, but will work closely with numerous cross-functional partners. The overall responsibility of this individual is to meet and exceed revenue targets for the Zig-Zag segment by setting and leading brand strategy and execution.
Oversee the development and execution of the annual marketing plan across the Zig-Zag segment to ensure growth targets (share, volume, financial performance) are achieved, while maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirementsBuilds plans that are consumer-first with an understanding of the full picture of brand building (the Ps)Build an integrated marketing communication plan and overall brand strategy with key internal stakeholders; prioritizing the rapid increase of brand awareness, trial, and repeatStrong P&L influence inclusive of sales forecasts/projections, COGS optimization, and resource allocationGuide the creative executions that build brand equity based on brand positioning, campaigns, vision statement, and core strategiesLeverage category trends and consumer insights to build brand plans that continue to grow this iconic brandEvaluate the competitive landscape and ensure the brand is effectively competingOversee the in-market product offerings and determine portfolio optimization to ensure we are maximizing top and bottom-line growth while minimizing cannibalizationOversee and lead Product Development to align on commercialization and go-to-market plans of incremental line extensions and/or new productsPartner with Sales on sharing brand initiatives and priorities, in-store programming, customer sell-in presentations, and education materialsPartner with Creative Director and oversee Graphic Designer to drive break-through creative work with a concentration on building brand awareness, equity, and establishing key points of differentiationCollaborate with cross functional teams to ensure strong business plans and executionProvide regular updates on assigned brand(s) to senior managementManage staff of 5-10 including recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, supporting, etc.Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Marketing or related subject8 to 10 years Brand Management experience, ideally in a CPG companyPeople management experience at multiple levels (i.e. employees with direct reports)Responsible for being knowledgeable of and acting in strict accordance with the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations, which the company will assist in and coordinate trainingProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookPreferred Qualifications Ability to travel 15% of the timeSupplementary Information Strategic thinking; can easily integrate key insights from relevant data and demonstrates strong problem solving skillsPassion for the consumerPersistent and gets things doneGo-getter, collaborator, hard-worker, self-motivator, with a can-do approach and bias for actionAbility to thrive and handle ambiguity in a fast-paced environment; can make effective decisions with imperfect informationStrong business acumen and marketing abilitiesCurious & self-starter, believes in consumer research, and excited about creating new business opportunitiesExcellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively while working autonomouslyAbility to think out-of-the box and drive creative solutionsAbility to analyze research and syndicated data/trendsExperience with understanding/interpreting financials and managing a budgetExperience with product pricing, packaging, and brand positioningExperience with portfolio optimization and ecommerceExcellent written and oral communication skillsVery organized with the ability to multi-task and prioritizeTeam oriented with a successful track record of collaboratively executing cross-functional projectsExperience with digital marketing tools and techniquesFamiliarity with fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) distribution channels and managing media campaignsLet's talk money and perks!
