Create an itemized supply order for the show and present to the Artistic Director After supply order is approved, place the order and oversee the delivery, load in and storage throughout the production Meet with the Director for set design and vision - meet set design and build deadlines as agreed upon Communicate any and all additional expenditures with Artistic Director for purchasing approval This job requires flexible hours Plan, organize and execute the show strike Clearly communicate with the Bravo office weekly hours Weekend hours and holidays must be approved for custodial coverage - please communicate in advance Organize a daily schedule and list of things to be accomplished.
Review these goals before and after each day Responsible for managing and maintaining the set budget for the show Manage all set aspects of the shows - design, organization, managing/delegating to other builders and parent volunteers (building, painting, dressing) projection designers, lighting designer Organize/direct the crew students after school hours to help with construction and painting of the set 3 weeks prior to show - work with crew students to understand set moves and crew responsibilities Communicate with stage managers and directors to best achieve the process of integrating the set functions with the production Chart backstage functions for running crew to be organized, productive and successful Maintain a clean shop, tool shed, stage and work environment.
Stage and scene shop should be thoroughly swept after all build is done each day.
Stage swept and ready for 3:30pm rehearsals Leave time at the end of the day for stage crew to clean up and prepare for the next day Check stage and house to be sure all tools and building supplies are put away after rehearsal and performances If a tool is lost, the crew staff is financially responsible.
Inventory all supplies daily.
Candidate Qualifications: Minimum 3 years experience working in a professional scene shop or similar related experience with additional experience leading crews Broad skill base and knowledge in carpentry, rigging, metalworking, and automation installation and operation Knowledge of a wide variety of construction materials and methods used in the theater to construct theatrical scenery Training and education in safe operation of stationary and portable power tools, hand tools, stage rigging and equipment Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Vector Works Familiarity with the Creative Connors System a plus Valid driver's license.
Must be comfortable driving a scissor lift Physical Requirements: This position requires the performance of light work-which may require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.
The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere.
