HDR is seeking a Bridge Technical Lead in our Plymouth Meeting, PA or Philadelphia, PA offices to support the continued growth of our structures team in Eastern and Central Pennsylvania. The Eastern and Central Pennsylvania Bridge Technical Lead will be responsible for standardizing local design procedures, identifying and filling technical gaps, improving design efficiencies, and serving as a technical expert. They will support the local Project Managers and bridge staff in Eastern and Central PA with the resources required to successfully deliver projects. They will function as a Project Engineer on large and complex infrastructure projects. They will help select, train, and mentor technical personnel. They will also be counted on to:
Set and maintain local project standards for design calculations, plan development, electronic file organization, report development, and progress tracking. Ensure all local standard design practices align with HDR QA/QC requirements.Educate, monitor, and direct staff in the proper use of design manuals, design standards, design tools, and design best practices.Direct new bridge staff during onboarding on the availability of resources and use of the local standard practices and HDR best practices.Perform "over the shoulder" reviews for projects at appropriate project milestones to confirm proper procedures are in place and applied on the use of local standard practices and HDR best practices.Serve as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design including complex and non-standard design elements.Mentor less-experienced staff.Serve as the workshare liaison for local office staff working on complex or non-standard projects in other offices.Work with local PMs and Section Managers to develop staffing plans and select appropriate staff to deliver local projects.Develop or review technical and price proposals involving complex or non-standard structural elements on local projects.Participate in monthly section meetings, providing knowledge transfers of technical concepts and trends.Preferred Qualifications:Experience leading the design of large and complex bridges including complex steel superstructures; prestressed concrete; large substructure units; and complex deep foundations.Experience leading design of design-bid-build and alternative delivery projects.Experience leading design for multiple clients and owners throughout the country.Experience managing staff.Preference given to local candidates.Minimum 20 years of progressive bridge design experience, with a proven background of technical leadership.Required Qualifications:A minimum of 10 years bridge design experience.Professional Engineer (PE) license.Proven hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects.Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, GEOPAK, AutoCAD and MicroStation.Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software.Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams.Strong communication skills and willing to work in a team environment.Must be comfortable being viewed as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design and have proven background of technical leadership on these types of projects.An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.What We Believe:
