GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK
Assist driver in maintaining order and discipline to ensure all children act and behave accordingly in the best interest of safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS
The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks:
Be professional, courteous and helpful to all parents and students Be familiar with all aspects of your route and report any safety problems encountered to the driver Keep current on addenda to your transportation handbook Assist driver in solving bus problems and exercise good judgment in dealing with parents and students Attend all in-service and safety meetings related to transportation Keep school bus driver informed of children who are encountering problems on the school bus The aide will be on the school bus during loading or unloading of the bus Keep to your daily schedule and be on time Aide is responsible to meet driver for scheduled hours at location designated by transportation supervisors Keep supervisor and bus driver informed of any time you are not able to be on your bus During bad weather pay close attention to weather related issues Assist in keeping your school bus clean and tidy In event of emergency follow approved guidelines in place Be responsible for all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Transportation Department supervisors Communicate openly and effectively with students, parents, community patrons, staff and administration as a positive representative of Culpeper County School system KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Maintain good working relationship with all employees and the public.
Other such qualifications that the school board might accept in lieu of any of the above EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Candidate must possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
Frequent sitting with limited walking, standing, stooping, and occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to approximately 20 pounds may be required.
Other limited physical activities may be required.
Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for observing general student behavior, surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
Regular contact with staff members, administrators, and parents may be required.
Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all CCPS employees.
To ensure adequate staffing, positive employee morale, and to meet expected productivity standards throughout the organization, employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.
