The Auria Chief Growth Office (CGO) is seeking a full-time, proven, and motivated Business Development Director to lead a Strategic & Defense Solutions (SDS) Business Unit strategy development and execution in support of Auria's growth objectives.  This position reports to the Chief Growth Officer (CGO), directly supports the SDS BU Executive Vice President/General Manager, and is located at our Auria Corporate Headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO or Auria's Huntsville, AL office.
As the Strategic & Defense Solutions BD Director, you lead market analysis, manage customer relationships, identify/qualify business opportunities, and support or lead capture activities to deliver customer preferred solutions.  In this role, you provide an extraordinary customer experience to our current and potential customers by incorporating our strategic focus and messaging into customer engagement, pipeline development, and business pursuits that address customer needs, gaps and requirements.  The Director has substantial Space OPIR and Missile Defense experience, effectively engages with internal/external teams, demonstrates sound DoD acquisition understanding, develops achievable growth pipelines, and can prioritize and guide internal research and development (IR&D) projects for transition into MDWS capabilities and programs.
Responsibilities: Develop and execute the SDS business strategy aligned to Auria growth objectives. Identify, analyze and qualify current and new market trends/opportunities; prepare and lead interest and qualify gate reviews; and lead or support pursuit and proposal gate reviews. Define and execute long-term market BD strategies to deliver at or above target contract backlogs through a 5-year qualified opportunity pipeline. Prepare business cases for decision that demonstrate financial risk mitigation, articulate IR&D/capital investments benefits, and demonstrate positive returns on investment and sales. In coordination with the Auria Capture team, lead competitive analysis, intelligence collection, and market data to clearly understand competitor strengths and weaknesses Respond to Government Sources Sought, Requests for Information, etc.  In coordination with the Auria Contracts team, initiate non-disclosure agreements, teaming agreements and organizational conflicts of interest (OCI) analysis Develop, manage and lead a focused customer engagement strategy to cultivate positive and sustained relationships and fully understand customer requirements, gaps and friction points. In coordination with Auria Capture team, develop a customer value proposition inclusive of Auria capabilities, competencies and discriminators, to develop win themes and capture strategies. Construct and deliver briefings conveying Auria's capabilities, core competencies and discriminators addressing customer gaps, requirements and friction points. Analyze existing and projected customer funding profiles to validate realism of business pursuits. Proactively support appropriate networking opportunities within key Space and Missile Defense acquisition centers across the US Collaborate with SMD leaders, industry and Auria Corporate BD teams to foster effective and integrated teamwork to take full advantage talent and capabilities and provide best in class solutions. Basic Qualifications: US citizenship is required. Currently possesses or can obtain a Secret Security Clearance Master's degree with 15+ years of related acquisition, engineering and/or business experience within the Space and Missile Defense industry. Existing relationships with defense industry and DoD acquisition processes and regulations. Strong customer knowledge and intimacy and a proven record of conducting business development within Space OPIR and Missile Defense domains. Extensive customer knowledge of Space and Missile Defense Acquisition agents and influencers Proven experience in business case development, market & budget analysis, managing large budgets, customer and competition analysis, price to win development, and capture and proposal activities. Strong ability to author technically oriented business development deliverables such as Requests for Information and Sources Sought responses. Strong analytical skills in identifying and analyzing requirements, aligning requirements to current and potential capabilities (tech and capital (investments), and assessing market opportunities and threats. Sound understanding of business pipelines and programmatic backlogs. Excellent written and oral presentation skills including the ability to generate written material to communicate to customers, industry partners and senior executives. Preferred Qualifications: Active US DoD Top Secret clearance, SAP, and SCI clearances. USAF/USMC/USN/International/Coalition customer knowledge in ground/airborne/satellite sensing, infrared, fire control systems, software, and data links/communications systems Deep understanding of DoD PPBE, Congressional budgeting, and DoD acquisition processes to include Other Transaction Authority (OTA) processes. Ability to apply entrepreneurial approaches to expand SMD markets. Ability to integrate multiple advanced technologies into mission level capabilities. Salary Range:  The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications - skills, education & experience ($150,000- $180,000).
