We are seeking a Director of Business Development who will work closely with the senior management team of Thrive to lead our business development process through sourcing, evaluating, conducting diligence, and closing a high volume of acquisitions and partnerships. The candidate will join a highly collaborative and motivated team in a dynamic environment with substantial opportunity to create value and contribute to the company's growth mandate. Qualified candidates should demonstrate a strong desire and passion for M&A and business development, working with small business owners, and a great goal-oriented attitude.
Job Responsibilities Responsible for the process of identification, evaluation, and execution of acquisition opportunities within a dedicated geographic regionOwns the responsibility of building and maintaining a relationship with small business ownersNegotiate and explain deal terms while maintaining a positive working relationship with the business ownerPartner with senior leadership and TDP to set and execute strategyCollaborate with CDO to manage efforts to obtain new business and retain existing relationshipsDevelop and maintain relationships with contacts, customers, and brokers to maintain and expand businessLead due diligence (including managing third-parties), valuation analysis, and proposal development for potential acquisition candidatesHelp build post-transaction value creation plans with owners to ensure a successful investment post closeWork with senior management and third-party vendors to efficiently close transactionsWear multiple hats if needed and be a team player in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environmentQualifications: 4-7 years of M&A experience (investment banking, private equity, consulting, corporate development or direct lending)Prior experience communicating directly with small business ownersPrior experience at a multi-site acquisition driven organizationTeam player and self-starterAdvanced in Microsoft Office productsBachelor's degree required, advanced degrees a plusWillingness to travel ~50% of time (including to corporate office in Chicago)Compensation Highly competitive compensation consisting of base salary, performance bonus, and equity ownership.
