Opterus Research and Development is looking for a highly motivated and organized Business Development Manager to help drive sales, foster strategic partnerships, and bring exciting new Opterus technologies to market.
About Opterus Research and Development: Established in 2018, Opterus is a fast-growing provider of critical spacecraft components and deployable space structures. We are on a mission to transform the aerospace and defense industry by delivering high-performing solutions that significantly cut costs and lead times compared to traditional technologies. Our expertise in deformable and deployable composite structures enables us to develop entirely new capabilities for our customers. Opterus's main product areas are rollable booms, RF structures, panel arrays, and mission-specific deployables. About the Position: The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven track record of identifying opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and achieving business goals. As Business Development Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of Opterus by spearheading initiatives that expand our reach and impact. Responsibilities:
Collaboratively develop the Opterus growth strategy by conducting market research and analysis, obtaining "voice of customer", creating product road maps, and supporting marketing campaignsBuild and maintain positive relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholdersLead the bid and proposal process to efficiently produce successful offers Represent Opterus Research and Development at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunitiesCollaborate with Engineering and Production to identify opportunities for technology developments that meet customer needs Support contract review and negotiation process for successful proposalsOther responsibilities as assigned Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace, Engineering, Business Administration, or related disciplineMinimum of 3 years (preferably 7 years) experience in a spacecraft systems or component engineering role (or comparable role) with a minimum of 1 year (preferably 3 years) experience supporting key business development processes (customer interfacing, new project planning, technical solution formulation)Enthusiasm for and demonstrated results related to product development and bringing new technologies to marketWorking knowledge of aerospace, defense, and adjacent markets. Preferably experience with government acquisition processesExperience with proposal writing for both commercial, civil, and national security space customersAbility to travel on a monthly basis to meet with customers and/or attend conferencesStrong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal) and an excellent attention to detailTeam-oriented with the ability to be a self-starter and work independently Proficiency with ERP and CRM systems (JAMIS preferred)Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.)US citizen or permanent resident Compensation and Benefits: Salary range: $110,000 - $180,000 based on experience and qualificationsFlexible and hybrid work schedule; fully remote work considered for the right candidateWork within a community-oriented environment at Forge Campus.
