POSITION SUMMARY : This position is responsible for the planning and purchasing of Packaging and/or Raw Materials. This position is also responsible for supporting the team members with process oversight/improvement and direct coordination with the Plant Production, SI&OP teams, Product Management, Quality, Sourcing and Inventory Control. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager and will be based out of the Wilmington, OH Plant. Job Details Description Your primary duties and responsibilities will be: Develop and maintain healthy supplier relationships. Coordinate all activities involved with planning and ordering raw materials and/or packaging to meet the needs of the business ensuring no risk to the supply chain. Advises management and appropriate parties of material events that can potentially disrupt the production plans. Confer with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Apply best practices to optimize the order planning, buying, and inventory management of assigned materials. Manages key master data for SKU's including lead time, order quantity, safety stock, and price. Lives the company's mission, vision, and values while meeting the responsibilities of the position. Uses formal systems and process to analyze production demand, place material orders, schedule deliveries, and manage on-hand and off-site inventories. Actions are taken in direct support of company goals for schedule adherence, obsolete write-off, purchase price variance, on-time & in full deliveries, cash flow, and warehouse space utilization. Organize and lead calls or meetings as needed for 6 categories, Decision making (ii) Problem solving (iii) Innovation (iv) Kick off/next steps (v) Alignment (vi) Status update. Schedules and expedites the approval of materials to support the production schedule and other project-based initiatives. Partner with AP and inventory control for invoicing issues to help provide resolution. Provide back-up coverage for other Buyers. Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook Knowledge of inventory planning, purchasing procedures, inventory management and supply chain concepts. Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team environment. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make quick decisions under pressure. High awareness and understanding on the financial aspect of the business. Educational Requirements: Education: Bachelor's Degree and minimum 3 years' buyer/planner manufacturing experience is preferred Or 7+ years of relevant or transferable experience in manufacturing environment (without Bachelor's degree) Experience: Experience using an ERP system; JDE experience a plus. Understanding of material requirement concepts. Strong communication, planning, organizational and analytical skills. Ability to problem solve and implement effective corrective actions. Proficient to advanced with MS Excel and proficient with MS Office (Word, Outlook) Be flexible enough to change with an ever-changing business environment.
