Brooks Utility Products is seeking a highly motivated CAD Designer to support the organization in strengthening our engineering documentation and standardizing our existing product portfolio.
This role will interface heavily with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing operations groups.
***This position is for a 6 to 12-month temporary contract only***
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Create CAD models and drawings for core products from legacy documentation.
Lead wire harness redesign of meter sockets in AutoCAD to drive product standardization.
Convert CAD models from CREO to Solidworks, and redesign / strengthen, as needed.
Write and execute engineering change requests (ECRs) to support business needs.
Develop tooling and dye fixture drawings based on physical parts; develop a library of tool and dye prints.
Strengthen legacy engineering documentation including part drawings, assembly prints, marketing prints, material specification sheets, and harness diagrams.
Support design of custom products in CAD with direction from senior engineers.
Requirements Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting or equivalent.
Alternate: 5+ years full time industry experiences using CAD (Solidworks and AutoCAD/Draftsight required) Minimum 2+ years of experience with AutoCAD/Draftsight required.
Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferably Solid Works.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Solid understanding of mechanical principles, with a keen ability to apply this knowledge in practical settings.
Ability to follow directions and collaborate effectively within a team, both in-person and virtually, while contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
Knowledge of NEC, UL, and ANSI standards for utility-grade electrical products is preferred.
Experience with ERP software (Epicor) is preferred.
