Job Description Cardiac Anesthesia Provider - (2400009G) Description Cardiac Anesthesia Providers are highly skilled health professionals who work under the direction of licensed anesthesiologists to implement anesthesia care plans. Through mentoring and training, the provider has an advanced skillset in the management of patients with congenital heart disease in the perioperative setting. The provider works exclusively within the cardiac anesthesia care team environment as described by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), specifically at the direction of cardiac anesthesiologists in cardiac surgery, catheterization lab procedures, electrophysiologic procedures, and anesthetics for cardiac patients for imaging or noncardiac procedures. They possess a premedical background, a baccalaureate degree, and complete a comprehensive didactic and clinical program at the graduate school level. They are trained extensively in the delivery and maintenance of quality anesthesia care as well as advanced patient monitoring techniques. In addition, they undergo additional education and training to care for patients on ECMO, cardiopulmonary bypass, and ventricular assist devices.
