EDUCATION: Associate Degree: Accredited school of Nursing (required)
Bachelor's Degree: Nursing (preferred)
EXPERIENCE: Background in Coronary Care. (required)
Ability to interpret EKG's. (required)
CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: State of Nebraska RN/ LPN License or Multi-State RN / LPN License (required)
Current BLS certification (required)
Current ACLS certification. (preferred)
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: Adheres to Brodstone Healthcare's Mission, Vision and Values.Adheres to Brodstone Healthcare's Service Excellence Standards.Assesses participant's needs and plans program to meet these specific needs.Monitors and interprets heart rhythm, heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and tolerance to exercise sessions. Documents rhythm strips and information obtained.Identifies cardiac arrhythmias and initiates emergency treatment if necessary.Maintains records of all Phase II participants including physical and psychosocial assessment; physiological response to physical activity; compliance to medication and lifestyle modifications, exercise prescription and progression, incidents - treatment and prevention, complications and emergency situations and action taken; physician notification of participant's progress.Maintains availability of all necessary cardiac and pulmonary emergency lifesaving equipment, e.g. oxygen, CPR equipment, defibrillator, emergency drugs, etc. Documents daily equipment is functioning and readily available.Restocks department supplies and determines that all equipment is functioning. Makes written documentation of equipment checks daily.Assists in administering and provides patient instruction for stress tests, rehabilitation sessions and testing of mobile nuclear patients including heart, liver, lung, gall bladder, renal, and bone scanning. Contacts insurance companies for eligibility, precertification, # visits and document for NM & Cardiac Rehab patients.Assists Diabetes Nurse Educator with diabetes teaching to patient/family in out-patient setting.Provides education for the participant/family through selected programs or informally during the exercise session.Allocates time spent in the various areas of care daily when clocking out.Actively participates in Quality Improvement activities.Participates in continuing education programs related to Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.Participates in hospital wide continuing education and in-services.Attends and participates in monthly department meetings and skills checks.Shall have the ability to work with others in a team environment, the ability to accept direction from supervisors, the ability to follow work rules and procedures, and the ability to accept constructive criticism.The Cardiac Rehab Nurse will need to access Protected Healthcare Information for treatment, hospital operations or payment purposes. See hospital/department policy and procedure for access granted for this job function.Abides by the policies and procedures of the facility. Standards of conduct in the Compliance Plan and participates in ongoing monitoring of activities with respect to compliance.Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in-services, Brodstone Healthcare quality improvement program, etc. Participate in committees as requested.
