Job Title: Cardiac Sonographer - Radiology - PRN (******** )
Description: Reviews patient history and physician's orders.Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.Performs echocardiographic studies considering the age-specific physiological, emotional and cognitive needs of the patient.Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.Prepares equipment and supplies.Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.Enters, transmits and reports scan results.Performs quality Doppler and color Doppler exams.Acquires quality Stress Echo and Dobutamine images according to physician and benchmark standards.Performs quality trans-esophageal echocardiograms according to physician expectations.Qualifications: Minimum Education: Completion of a cardiac and vascular ultrasound course or any combination of training and experience that provides the skills and abilities to perform the requirements of this position.
Minimum Work Experience: One year of experience in cardiac sonography with an emphasis on 2D echocardiography, Doppler ultrasound, and life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia recognition preferred.
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 weeks of hire
AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire
Required Licenses: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
Registered with credentials as Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS), or Cardiac Credentialing International (RCS) required. Must be registered within one year of employment if a graduate of an accredited school of ultrasound.
