Atrium Health Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute at Lake Norman is seeking a full-time Cardiology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide quality care to the patients we serve in the Lake Norman community. This Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be part of an established team of specialized cardiology Physicians and APPs.
Position Details: Shifts: Mon-Fri Day shift, occasional weekends and/or holidays may be requiredTeam-based care comprised of specialized cardiology MDs and APPsWork independently in the hospital and perform care under the supervision of a physician to all patients on the cardiology servicesAreas of clinical work include but are not limited to medicine/surgical floors, cardiovascular telemetry unit, ICU, and Emergency Department.Evaluate new patients, consults, and established patients from the ER and on the cardiovascular service as well as diagnose, treat and manage common conditions in the cardiovascular populationPerform an appropriate history and physical exam, write emergent progress notes, assess and prepare patient workups, and follow core measures for documentation including hospital and 3rd party payer requirements and appropriate patient careFacilitate and order diagnostic studies including echocardiograms, stress tests, MRIs, CTs, and cardiac catheterization if indicatedOrder appropriate laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explain necessity, preparation, and risks and benefits of scheduled diagnostics and therapeutic procedures to the patient and familyIdeal Candidate: At least 2 years of experience in cardiology working as an APPAbility to function independently in hospital settingCritical thinking and interpersonal skillsEffective communication (written and verbal)Willingness to collaborate closely with clinical teamCurrent on best practice and standards of careDisplays self-initiative to learnPosition Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program. Current license to practice as a NP or PA in North Carolina.
