Duties and Responsibilities: Directs and coordinates all aspects of the program, following any programmatic and/or regional accrediting standards and College/System policies. Assures program compliance with any accrediting or licensing bodies. Provides leadership and vision to the program for which they direct. Participates in the selection, orientation, evaluation, development, and/or continued employment of faculty members, both full and part-time, on and off campus, may include clinical or laboratory settings. Coordinates and provides community outreach activities including business partnerships; student and staff recruitment; articulation with high schools, regional occupational programs, and universities; and public relations. Oversees and implements health and safety regulations. Participates in the resolution of student grievances, student problems or complaints. Implements the program review process, and the assessment of learning outcomes, for the program. Develops necessary relationships programmatic business and industry. Schedules classes, instructors and facilities to effectively meet the needs of students and best utilize the resources of the institution for the academic year including the summer, both day and evening. Develops and administers the annual operating budget, in conjunction with the Dean of the division for which he/she serves. Prepares a variety of reports and correspondence appropriate to assignment. Chairs or serves on various college committees as appropriate. Disseminates pertinent information to all division members. Informs division staff on college and departmental procedures and regulations including certification of time and attendance, purchasing, inventory, accreditation and transfer requirements, and safety requirements. Teaches classes as necessary. Manage program facilities and equipment, including maintenance and control of inventory. Work in conjunction with the dean, department head where applicable, and program faculty on curriculum development and/or revision. Clinical education is to be formally designed and coordinated with the didactic curriculum. Coordinate the development and refinement of course materials including course syllabi and lab modules that reflect current practice. Coordinate the recruitment, selection, admission, advising, readmission, transfer, progression, retention efforts, and withdrawal of students within the program. Supervise the organization and revising of lecture instruction, lab sessions, and clinical experiences. Maintain program equipment and supplies. Coordinate the review and selection of new textbooks, laboratory equipment, supplies and other instructional materials used in the teaching-learning process. Maintain current professional credentials, state license, continuing professional development requirements, and expertise in respiratory therapy. Develop and conduct professional growth activities and programs for full time, adjunct and clinical faculty as well as assisting with community programs. Supervise the recruiting, orienting, and mentoring of adjunct and full-time faculty. Observe instructional methods, provide immediate feedback and conduct performance evaluations and planning in all instructional settings. Lead the student program admission process. Complete graduation, certification/licensing, and board paperwork. Assist graduating students in planning end of program ceremony. Responsibilities may include additional time for prep and closeout of the Fall and Spring semesters to ensure the duties above are completed. Perform special duties related to the department as assigned by the Dean of the division or the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs. Division Specific Duties: Teach assigned courses. Act as facilitator of learning and a manager of information for the students. Participate in efforts to consistently improve the level of student success. Facilitate critical thinking in preparation for and throughout clinical experiences. Flexibility with teaching schedule in relation to revisions/changes/unusual circumstances within the program curriculum. Be adaptable to schedule/load adjustments based upon enrollment and accountable for a forty-hour workweek, including instructional responsibilities, planning, meetings, etc. Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Required Experience: Two years' experience in cardiovascular healthcare
Required Licenses or Certifications: Cardiovascular credential in noninvasive vascular studies and/or adult echocardiography; documented education or experience in instructional methodology
