Position Responsibilities:

• Assures that the CVL procedural rooms are prepared to receive patients, ensuring room is stocked and all emergency equipment is checked.


• Assists with preparing patients for procedure; connects to monitoring equipment, positions patient on table, verifies pt ID per hospital policy and educates patient on procedure to be performed.


• Adheres to proper aseptic/sterile technique when prepping table, draping pt, performing skin prep for vascular or open access and donning sterile gown, gloves and mask.


• Demonstrates ability to perform scrub duties as directed by physician.
Able to prepare equipment and assist with the insertion/manipulation of guidewires, catheters and other such equipment into the vasculature under fluoroscopy.
Inject contrast manually or mechanically under the direction of the physician.


• Demonstrates ability to perform monitoring duties such as accurately completing the procedural report, documenting all hemodynamic data and ensuring all images cross to the network.


• Adheres to hospital policies regarding radiation safety.


• Demonstrates competency in sheath removal and application of TR Band and Femostop.


• Demonstrates ability to operate imaging equipment including movement of table and gantry, adjusting magnification, DSA, run-offs, measurements, etc.


• Participates in weekend leadership huddle and finalizes staffing schedule accordingly for following work week as assigned.


• Assist nursing director in recruitment, education, training, and evaluation of technical personnel in the department.
Assists nurse manager with daily staffing needs for Cardiac Cath department.


• Ensures that Cardiac Cath labs are maintained to meet the guidelines adopted by the Joint Commission.


• Maintains current annual departmental competencies and licenses/certifications.

• Ensures that all charges are completed in EPIC for cases performed for that day.


• Orients/trains staff to all aspects of procedures and equipment as well as responsibilities and expectations of job.


• Responsible for signing off CVTs in various departmental competencies as instructed by Director.

• Responsible for managing inventory in assigned room/modality and communicating with Materials Management.


Qualifications:

• Licensure/Registration/Certification: Current license as a Radiologic Technologist with or without the Cardiac-Interventional Radiography-RT ( R)(CI) or Vascular-Interventional Radiography-RT( R)(VI) credentialing from the ARRT.
Or credentialed by the CCI as a RCIS, RCES or a CCT.

• BLS/ACLS certification required.

• Education: High school diploma or GED and a graduate of an education program in Radiologic Science, Cardiovascular Technology or Practical Nursing.
