Job Summary: Unit details: The 31-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) cares for pediatric patients ranging in age from zero to 18 who are being treated for Level 1 trauma, respiratory, sepsis, burn, transplant, GI/GU, cardiovascular, oncology, neurology, neurosurgical, and an overall wide range of medical diagnoses. Our patients are unique because they are critically ill and require a highly motivated and skilled team.
Schedule: 6:45 pm to 7:15 am, rotating weekends and holidays
Care Partner Position Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) AND one of the following: Current enrollment in a program of professional nursing RN and successful completion of the first semester of nursing school to include nursing fundamentals clinical, or Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (the certification is not mandatory but a certificate of completion is necessary), or Minimum of one year of previous (and within the past two years) experience as a care partner or nursing assistant/patient care technician. Preferred qualifications: 1-year acute care experience, preferably pediatric Professionalism Exceptional reliability Great communication skills Strong teamwork skills Significant emotional intelligence for the patient population Flexible availability for scheduling KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Assists with day-to-day delivery of patient care. Facilitates efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards. Serves as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs. Supports unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards. TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES CLINICAL COMPETENCIES (Novice): Demonstrates competence with interventions (such as point of care testing, vital signs, etc.) in practical applications of moderate difficulty. ENVIRONMENT OF CARE (Novice): Demonstrates ability to set up and maintain patient rooms, supplies, and equipment. PLANNING & ORGANIZING (Novice): Demonstrates ability to anticipate basic resource needs and organize work for own assignments and responsibilities.
