JOB TITLE: Career Service Specialist REPORTS TO: Dean of Student Affairs DEPARTMENT: Office of Student Affairs START DATE: July 1, 2024 CLASSIFICATION: Full Time Hourly StaffSALARY: TBD The Career Services Specialist/Advisor is responsible for supporting the creation and deliveryof comprehensive career services for Andrew College students, faculty/staff, and alumni. This person is responsible for assisting studentswith career research, goal setting, job searching, resume and cover letter writing, networking, interviewing skills, professional etiquette,online professional branding, personal statements, and job shadowing, conducting career and personality inventories, and findinginternships. The Career Service Specialist/Advisor will develop and facilitate career related presentations, workshops, and programs in theclassroom, residence halls, etc. This person will provide one-on-one and group career advising sessions in person and/or virtually andprovide case management. The Career Services Specialist/Advisor will collect data on all initiatives to assess outcomes, measure success,and hone future events. This person will also collect and track data for office assessment purposes. The Career Services Specialist/Advisorwill coordinate and present at major events, which may include career fairs, orientation sessions, etc. This person will also serve oninstitutional committees as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies andprocedures.
Qualifications: Prior experience supervising a paraprofessional student staff Prior experience developing students Evidence of cultural competence and inclusiveness; sensitivity to and understanding ofdiverse perspectives that students and staff bring to their work, including those of academic, socioeconomic, culture, race and ethnicity,ability, gender, sexuality and intersectional identities Effective oral and written communication skills Strongorganizational skills and attention to detail required Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment,and to work collaboratively with students and colleagues Demonstrated sound judgment and integrity WorkingConditions: While performing the duties of this job you may be required to lift and or move heavy items. You will also berequired to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor'sdegree in psychology, education, marketing, human resources, business administration/management or related field and 1-3 years ofprofessional work experience working in a higher education setting or related setting.
