re:fab is a full-service painting and renovation company based in New England and Florida which services East Coast projects. re:fab is looking for experienced carpenters/framers to work as a subcontractor for commercial and residential projects throughout the Washington DC/ Fairfax VA area.
In this position, the carpenter will be responsible for all aspects of pricing, building, installing, and repairing structures and other items using different types of materials including wood and other building materials for our commercial and residential renovation division. Our ideal candidate must be familiar with various types of commercial and residential new construction, rough framing, siding, window and door installation and remodeling jobs.
Responsibilities: Collaborate with our estimating team on job quotesMeasure, mark, and arrange materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from re:fab supervisorsCut and shape structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywallUse various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projectsJoin materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple, or adhesiveEnsure the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares; corrects problems as neededInstall windows, doors, cabinets, partitions, moldings, etc.Remodel homes and businessesPerform carpentry work in a neat, organized and timely mannerWork with our operations team to obtain permits for construction work to be performed, if neededWork collaboratively with the re:fab estimating and operations teamKeep detailed reports of work completed and report daily logs to re:fab teamComplete jobs on time and budgetComply with all company policies and procedures, and adhere to company standards and safety programAdhere to local building and safety codes and guidelines Qualifications: Friendly and professional customer service skillsEffective communication & writing skillsKnowledge of commercial construction practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials specifications, quality control, and safetyAbility to read and understand related construction documents (i.e., blueprints, plans, specs, shop drawings, etc.)CSL license, preferredMust maintain valid Workman's Comp & General Liability insurance on self and crewDisability InsuranceAuto InsuranceProfessional general carpentry experience, at least 2 yearsResidential framing and remodel experience is a mustKnowledge of handicap codes (i.e., AAB, ADA, etc.) preferredMust hold an OSHA 10 cardAble to work both independently and as part of a teamAbility to work in a face-paced & evolving environmentApplicant MUST have own tools and a reliable & insured truck or van to travel to and from job sites
