Location Description: Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.
Responsibilities: POSITION SUMMARY: The Shag Driver is responsible for allocating and spotting all trailers as well as loading and unloading the product. Consistent Schedule: Wednesday through Saturday, 2:00PM to 1:00AM. (May vary on occasion to assist with coverage for the team.) Local Driving: Moving trailers around the Wakefield Plant. No long hauls over the road, home every night. Culture: Great team that works together to help accomplish the job. It is a requirement to stop any task if there is a concern about being able to accomplish it safely. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Allocate and spots trailers for unloading and loadingSafely spots and backs trailers into some very tight areas, ensuring no damage is done to equipment, property, etc.Coordinates getting trailers to the shop area for pre-trip inspection and repairsResponsible for verifying trailers are washed properly for loadingResponsible for weighing trailers when loadedResponsible for securing trailer doorsStarts trailer reefer units and performs routine temperature checks for loaded trailersResponsible for security of the lotFollows safe driving/operating including being cautious of pedestriansAssumes personal responsibility to ensure safe and healthy workplace for everyoneAdheres to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasksAdheres to Quality work practices, follows GMP's, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintainedReports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and qualityAble to work overtime and holidays when neededEnsures regulatory compliance at all timesPerform other duties as assigned Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Clean Driving RecordMust possess a valid CDL (Commercial Driver License) with a tanker endorsementMust meet all Federal DOT Requirements for Class A CDL (Commercial Driver License) Minimum age is 18 years old (Intrastate - Nebraska). Minimum age is 21 years old (Interstate)Must meet all requirements outlined in the Company DOT Written ProgramAbility to work with minimal supervisionAbility to follow oral and written instructions, as well as communicate, in EnglishAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to write and/or complete routine reports and correspondence in EnglishPREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalentBasic computer experience (data entry) a plusKnowledge and experience operating reefer units preferredAbility to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organizationAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100'sAbility to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance
