Motor Assistance Vehicle Technician (MAVT)/ Motor Assistance Vehicle Operator (MAVO) SUMMARY:
The Motor Assistance Vehicle Technician/Operator (MAVT/MAVO) is responsible for all aspects of patients' care within the scope of certification.
Essential Job Functions
The Motor Assistance Vehicle Technician/Operator (MAVT/MAVO) is an integral part of the Virgo transportation team.
In this position the MAVT/MAVO transports ambulatory patients to and from residences and or skilled nursing facilities to medical treatments and or appointments, and then return them.
Some of the patients are able to ambulate to our vehicles while other must be moved in their wheelchairs, or are able to move on their electric scooters.
No person is to ride the lift while standing, or on the electric scooter.
The patients are placed in a wheelchair to go up on the lift, and they are moved inside and secured to the vehicle either on the bench seat or in the wheelchair.
Should there be an aide or family member accompanying the patient, they must be secured in the vehicle as well.
The MAVT/MAVO must check to see if any belongings or paperwork must accompany the patient for the transport, and then ensure that it gets dropped off with the patient.
For each trip the appropriate documentation must be filled out, and where required, obtain the necessary signatures from the patient and /or facility.
In the event monies are to be collected at time of service, a receipt is to be filled out and a copy given to the patient, or the person accompanying the patient.
The MAVT/MAVO must be capable of good oral communications as for every leg of the trip dispatch must be communicated with, as to alert them to the status of the transport.
In addition should any incident occur dispatch must be notified in a timely manner.
The vehicle being used for any particular shift must be checked both prior and post usage for mechanical operations, fluids, and general cleanliness.
The MAVT/MAVO must be able to utilize maps in order to locate facilities or residences that they are not aware of, with the assistance of dispatch.
At the conclusion of the MAVT's/MAVO's shift they must turn in the appropriate paperwork, and monies collected.

Additional duties and or responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary by the management of Virgo.
RESTRICTIONS:
No employee is allowed to:
Engage in any activity contrary to company policy
Smoke cigarettes while aboard vehicle.
Eat, chew gum, or drink in vehicles or facilities while caring for or transporting clients.
Abuse clients in any way, physically or verbally
Use profanity, argue with facility staff or engage in any fighting.
Loiter at facility
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a valid and clean driving record; Driver's license Class C with Passenger Endorsement.
Current MAVT/MAVO Certification.
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support CPR certification.
EDUCATION:
Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
Must obtain MAVO and CPR Certification, as well as a Class C Drivers License with Passenger Endorsement certification prior to employment
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write, and interpret using basic English language and grammatical usage.
Ability to understand and follow simple directions as related to job description.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Must be capable of demonstrating various decision-making skills.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, lift and/or move, balance, stoop, talk , hear with and without background noise, use all fine motor skills.
Visual acuity required includes: close, color, distance, peripheral, depth, ability to adjust focus.
Able to drive long distances daily.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time, walking, driving and riding in company vehicles.
The noise level in the work environment is constant and moderate.
It is potentially an uncontrolled hazardous environment.
