Job Summary: The library technician, under the direction of the District librarian, manages the school library, supervises students, and helps facilitate growing the love of reading in students.
Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalentAssociates degree (or higher) OR 72 quarter credits/48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college OR passing of the Education Testing (ETS) paraeducator assessmentAbility to maintain a positive attitude during the course of the dayAbility to organize, coordinate, and manage activities and competing prioritiesAbility to be flexibleAbility and willingness to learn new thingsAbility to develop and maintain effective library standard operating proceduresAbility to communicate effectively, possess awareness of self and others, listen actively, be patient, incorporate humor/lightheartedness into work, be empathic, possess a growth mindset, and be customer-service orientedAbility to finish 28 hours of training in alignment with the Fundamental Course of Study requirements OR have completed the 28 hours of training in another Washington State school districtAbility to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of employmentAbility to support the District's vision, mission, goals, and culture code including the belief that all students can succeedAbility to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodationsPreferred Qualifications: Associate's DegreeAbility to speak SpanishSuccessful experience working with diverse individualsEssential Functions: Maintains an orderly and clean libraryManages library inventory under the direction of the District or certificated librarianSupervises and assists students with locating books, checking books out, and returning booksUnder the supervision of a certificated staff member, delivers lessons that have been developed by a certificated staff memberSupports getting students excited about reading including helping them be engaged in the library, find books that align with their interests and school work, and providing direction on how to properly use a libraryAttends meetings or trainings as directed or appropriateOther duties as assignedSalary: $18.47 - $24.82 per hour, depending on experience; $.50 additional per hour for individuals with an Associate of Arts degree or higher; $.50 additional per hour for individuals who can write, speak, and read fluently in Spanish.
Work schedule:Temporary - 7.0 hours per day for the 24-25 school year.
