Capitol Dental Care creates access to quality care and provides dental leadership within the communities we serve. Creating access to quality care includes several outreach options including a Tiny House mobile dental clinic, tele-dentistry, community settings, and providing outreach and care to over 100 schools in the community.
Due to the ongoing need for Dental Assistants in the Mid-Willamette Valley of Oregon, we are hiring a Dental Assisting Instructor to develop a comprehensive program to educate and prepare students for a career in Dental Assisting.
In the position, the Dental Assisting Instructor is responsible for the development, implementation, and teaching of curriculum including all classroom/laboratory instruction, managing and supporting student Externships placements within our network of offices, and supervision of students in their studies and Externship program.
Essential Job Functions
Develop and execute curriculum for students in all stages of the Dental Assisting program
Deliver Instructor Led Training with PowerPoint-based lectures, supplementing with real-life work experience
Demonstrate dental skills/procedures and assist students as they practice hands-on in the lab
Evaluate individual/group performance and make any necessary adjustments to meet student learning needs including seeking feedback from Externship offices
Prepare lesson/unit plans and develop course material and evaluation tools
Research and development of current standards related to the instructional area
Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning
Notify students of make-up work due
Tutor students during make-up time
Maintain student records, grades, and attendance
Teach and guide students on professionalism and daily expectations in an office
Assist in inventory and ordering of supplies and texts
Assist in administrative duties as needed
Is accessible to students during formal office hours and other times as needed
Assist in the department budget planning process
Coordinate student externships
Ensure that each Dental Assisting program is full with qualified and motivated students
Participate in outreach to high schools, community centers, and participate in recruiting and marketing events as needed
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Five years of dental assisting experience, or three years of teaching in the field of dental assisting.
Possession of a valid credential (Certified or Registered Dental Assistant or a licensed dentist)
Proficiency in four-handed and/or six-handed dentistry principles
Possession of x-ray certification and the ability to teach and support students in this area
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate
Ability to coordinate and evaluate the instructional process for all dental assisting curriculum
Demonstrated leadership abilities, while establishing and maintaining effective collaboration with other administrators, employees, students, parents, and members of the community
Highly organized with attention to detail
Enthusiasm for improving academic and vocational achievement
Background in computer technology and a learning management system
Pay Information:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
