Role:

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the IPU Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) I
provides a central role in the inpatient units and on the hospice and palliative care teams, not only
providing personal care for the patient and assisting with activities of daily living but demonstrating
competencies specific to enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families facing progressive, life-limiting illnesses.
The CNA I function in a supportive relationship to professional disciplines and may function as an extension of these professional services with written instructions, appropriate supervision and specialized hospice training.

Experience Requirements

The CNA I must have previous experience as a Nursing Assistant.
Personal care experience is
preferred.
To be considered, the CNA I cannot have a lapse of 24 consecutive months where the aide
has not provided services for compensation on their record.

Education Requirements

The CNA I must have at least a certificate of completion from an approved Nurse Aide training
Program.
In addition, registration is required by the appropriate Board of Nursing as a Certified
Nursing Assistant.

in a fast paced environment utilizing tact, patience, and diplomacy; work independently; resolve

trusting relationships and partnerships with physicians, payers, patients and co-workers; maintain a
positive public image for Capital Caring Health by dealing with patients and employees; communicate respectfully, openly, honestly and directly; display comfortably with possible blood, bodily fluid, communicable diseases, and etc.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to drive distances including freeways and mountains when necessary./

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee would normally
encounter while performing the essential functions of this job in an office.

Works in business office with computers, printers, copy/fax machines and telephones.
The noise level in the work environment is usually light to moderate.
The environmental conditions are that of what is to be expected in a temperature-controlled building.
Occasionally required to drive to alternate work locations.
