Day to day as a Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist As a Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist at Boothby Therapy Services, you will have the thrilling opportunity to engage in a comprehensive approach of assessment and instruction tailored to meet the diverse needs and abilities of each student. By teaching independent travel, orientation, and related skills, you will empower individuals to navigate their surroundings safely and confidently in various environments. Embrace a problem-solving approach that is customized to each student's goals, utilizing both non-visual and visual techniques to foster independence and self-confidence. Collaborate with other vision rehabilitation professionals, family members, and relevant parties to implement effective service plans.

Candidate Requirements Candidates must possess a degree in Orientation & Mobility from an accredited college or university. While community-based O&M experience is preferred, it is not required. Successful candidates will demonstrate a deep understanding of independent travel skills and orientation techniques, along with the ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of each individual. Proficiency in utilizing non-visual techniques (auditory and tactual) and visual techniques is essential to empower students to achieve independence and self-confidence when traveling.
Strong collaboration and communication skills are crucial for working effectively with other vision rehabilitation professionals, family members, and relevant parties to implement comprehensive service plans.
