Job Summary Under the direction of a pharmacist, a pharmacy technician performs pharmacy-related functions in compliance with department policies and procedures. As an active member of the pharmacy team, technicians may interpret and prepare medication orders, make deliveries to nursing units, compound medications (sterile and non-sterile), and perform quality assurance responsibilities. A pharmacy technician certified may participate in Tech-Check-Tech functions as well. Accountabilities Accurately interprets and prepares medication orders by filling provider orders, medication kits / trays, automated dispensing cabinets, and floorstock requisitions.   Accurately completes the cart fill and code tray refills.   Handles all controlled substances in compliance with regulations and policies. - 20% Demonstrates proficiency with work-related computer and automation skills through problem solving for automated dispensing cabinets, inventory management technology, label printers, unit dose packing machines, IV room automation, and other pharmacy-specific technologies.   Accurately enters patient charges and credits as well. - 20% Correctly delivers medications to the appropriate patient care area or department, per established schedule and workflow in a timely manner.   STAT medications are delivered when required.   Routinely remove and evaluate medications remaining in delivery, return bins, and medication refrigerators.    - 15% Adheres with regulatory guidelines for pharmacy compounding of sterile and non-sterile preparations, including appropriate documentation as outlined by compounding policies.   - 10% Contributes to an efficient pharmacy work environment by providing excellent customer service to include, but not limited to answering the phone within three rings, servicing the pharmacy window in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining a clean and orderly work area, and being at work and prepared to start working at the beginning of each shift. - 10% Completes assigned quality assurance work by assuring all logs and pending tasks for shift are completed.   This may include, but is not limited to, expiration checks, clean room documentation, temperature monitoring documentation, inventory checks, floorstock inspections, and equipment cleaning / preventative maintenance. - 10% Actively participates in training of new personnel and mentorship of new pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns. - 5% Demonstrates and maintains competency in Tech-Check-Tech functions by accurately checking products filled by another technician or pharmacist and / or by accurately prioritizing and staging completed work ready for delivery. - 10% Supervisory/Management Responsibility This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. 1 year hospital experience preferred ? Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses State Certified Registration with the SC Board of Pharmacy Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Thorough knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology; possess good mathematical, computer, and aseptic technique skills. - Required SCBOP/DHEC/DEA rules/regulations. - Required Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with subordinates, peers, supervisors and others outside the department. - Required   Problem solving abilities; able to work in team situations; handle urgent, stressful conditions. - Required Required Knowledge & Skills Basic computer skills Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier) Proficient computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database) Data entry Mathematical skills Work Shift Variable (United States of America) Location Richland Facility 1510 Richland Hospital Department 15107300 Pharmacy Share your talent with us!
