Our client in Oakland County, MI is seeking a Certified Welder/Fabricator to join their team!
Job Description Read blueprints and drawings to take or read measurements to plan layout and proceduresBe proficient in knowledge and use of fabrication techniques involved in the fabrication and manufacture of custom machinery and projectsSet up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)Proficiency in the use of all fabrication hand tools, including drills, grinders, cutting tools, squares, levels, etc.Be proficient in SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW welding processes in all positions. Certification may be required for some projects.Operation of machinery involved in the fabrication of machinery at structures. This may include operation of plate shears, ironworkers, drilling and tapping operations, plate burning equipment, plasma cutting, and handheld oxygen/acetylene torches.Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flawsMaintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safetyUnderstanding, proficiency, and safe use of overhead cranes and rigging techniquesUnderstanding, proficiency, and safe usage of lift trucks up to 8,000 lbsWelder/fabricators may be asked to help in the preparation of equipment for painting, assembly of equipment for shipping, testing of equipment, installation of equipment at customer sites and other duties required in daily production activities. Requirements Proven experience as a Welder using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (Mig, Arc, etc.)Heavy Plate Armor Welding required
Experience with 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G positions strongly preferred
Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, tape measure, calipers, etc.)Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings (weld symbols, blueprints, etc.)Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing ( face-shield, gloves, etc.)Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required or a minimum of three years of experienceProfessional certification will be a plusHigh school diploma or equivalent qualification
