As a Certified Welding Inspector, you'll be immersed in the field on a variety of projects, conducting evaluations, and performing essential testing, all while delivering your expertise directly to our clients.
The Opportunity:
Our projects range from building erection reviews, fabrication shop audits, condition assessments, repair and reinforcement monitoring, to maintenance and warranty reviews for existing roadway structures and bridges.
We have a wide range of clients, but our primary focus areas are buildings (D1.1) and DOT (D1.1 or D1.5).
Depending on the project, your position could include a variety of work activities with opportunities ranging from daily travel between local jobsites, to assessing lighting or sign structures on the highway across the state, or occasional options to travel to perform evaluations at manufacturing facilities in other states.
Responsibilities: Perform bolted and welded structural connection reviews on building constructions sites, fabrication shop inspections, and additional specialty review and non-destructive testing.
Steel testing as needed in our Materials Laboratory, including testing of welder performance and procedure qualifications, high strength bolts and anchor rods, load testing of assemblies, etc.
Occasionally assisting with other service reviews or testing, as needed, to support other groups within SME.
RequirementsA current American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification Proficient with commonly used computer programs and phone apps (e.g.
Microsoft word/excel, PDFs, email, web browsers, maps, etc.)
QC/QA and/or related NDT experience preferred, but not required.
