PURPOSE: CFO/Controller will support the organization in developing and implementing a cohesive financial strategy to support the mission of Ventures. This is a new position, reporting directly to the Executive Director and serving as part of the Ventures' management team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Provide strategic direction and oversight for all financial operations of the organization, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards, particularly in relation to government grants, contracts, and funding agreements.
Directly manage the finance team, providing leadership, guidance, and support in their day-to-day activities and professional development.
Collaborate with the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors to develop and implement financial strategies that support the organization's mission and goals.
Collaborate with Executive Director to prepare monthly Finance Committee reports
Manage the organization's budgeting process, including the allocation of resources and monitoring of financial performance against budget targets.
Serve as the primary point of contact for external financial stakeholders, including auditors, lenders, donors, and government agencies.
Oversee the organization's loan portfolio, including loan management, collections, and reporting to funding partners.
Attend occasional evenings or weekends for Board Meetings
Attend Annual Board Retreat

QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Manage organization's finances, budgets, and financial reporting
Plan long-term financial strategies for organizational success
Oversee application and management of government grants
Support community development through financial institutions
Provide small loans backed by the Small Business Administration
ABILITY TO:

Communicate effectively in writing to a diverse range of audiences including donors, volunteers, the media, and Ventures clients.

Communicating performance expectations such as procedures, work schedule, etc., not detailed in the job description;?
Facilitating scheduled verbal and written performance reviews as specified in the employment policies, and addressing any immediate performance issues as they arise;
EXPERIENCE
10+ years of experience in financial management
BA in Accounting for Finance from an accredited university or years of equivalent experience
Responsible for financial portfolios greater than five million dollars
Progressive responsibility in a role demanding initiative, and attention to detail.
Current or previous experience in an organization transitioning to a larger structure
Preferred passion for small business ownership, entrepreneurship, and poverty alleviation; knowledge of the factors influencing small business success and the barriers faced by low-income and underserved or under-represented individuals to achieving financial stability

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Starting Salary Range: $100,000 -$125,000 per year
