About the job The Credit REIT CFO will perform finance, accounting and business management responsibilities related to the credit real estate investment trust sponsored by FS Investments. The FS Credit REIT, with $11 billion of assets under management, seeks to deliver an alternative source of income through investing in private commercial real estate debt. The CREIT CFO will play a strategic role in financial reporting, operations, and overall business efficiency. The successful candidate is expected to: Review reports to analyze projections against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals, and advises methods of improving the planning process as appropriate. Study long-range economic trends and projects, prospects for future growth and considers opportunities for expansion into new areas. Monitor commercial real estate market and competitors to identify opportunities. Complete special projects, including supporting financial planning and analysis, tax and policy teams, and other internal clients. Monitor actual and projected distribution coverage including the impact of loan portfolio performance. Oversee loan reserve accounting (current expected credit losses or "CECL") and repossession accounting. Manage service engagements performed by independent public accounting firms, internal auditors and tax compliance providers. Participate in the CREIT's Investment Committee meetings along with the Fund's Sub-Advisor. Participate in the CREIT's Quarterly Performance Review Meeting with the Fund's Sub-Advisor. Collaborate on business opportunities with CREIT's Global Head of Real Estate. Identify leverage opportunities working with CREIT's Capital Markets team. Keep current by attending commercial real estate conferences sponsored by public accounting firms and other organizations. Develop strong relationships with the CREIT's Board, Audit Committee and Audit Partner. Collaborate with the Head of Tax and Head of Accounting Policy on technical matters. Review and oversee the work performed by the accounting teams, including: The review process for quarterly reports on SEC Form 10-Q and annual reports on SEC Form 10-K regulatory filings. Net asset value disclosures for inclusion in monthly prospectus supplement filing. Oversight of third-party fund accounting agent and fund administrator. Expense budgeting and payment of fund expenses. This is an on-site role based in one of our primary offices. Location is open to Philadelphia, PA, New York, NY or Darien, CT locations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. CPA designation preferred. 8-10 years of industry experience; public accounting experience preferred. Prior experience as CFO or finance leader in commercial real estate preferred. Demonstrated experience in financial management with increasing responsibilities for multifaceted direction and strategic planning. Knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Regulation S-X regulatory requirements, financial reporting processes, fund accounting and Investment Company Act of 1940 Act preferred. Prior experience with REITs preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft suite of products and financial reporting software.
