The Department of Physics has 16 full-time faculty and offers various degree programs including a BS in Physics, an MS in Physics, and a PhD in Biomedical Physics.
Job Duties: The Department of Physics seeks to fill the position of chair at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (preferred), with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2025. Primary responsibilities include:
Overseeing administration and leadership of the department. Promoting excellence in faculty research and teaching. Mentoring faculty members. Assisting in efforts to secure external funding. Ensuring quality, integrity, and growth of student degree programs. Supporting departmental, college, and university policies and standards. Fostering collegial relations among all stakeholders. Representing the department to internal and external constituents. The chair is expected to spend at least 50% of their time on administration and leadership duties, with the remaining time devoted to research, teaching, and service.
Minimum Education/Experience: Qualifications for the position include:
A Ph.D. or equivalent in Physics or a closely related discipline. A strong and continuing record of scholarly publications and productivity. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and service.
