Job Overview:
The Checkout Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless transition for patients at the end of their visit.
This position is responsible for collecting patient payments, scheduling follow-up appointments and procedures, and providing clear explanations of the services ordered during the visit.
The ideal candidate will have experience with eClinicalWorks EMR and proficiency in Excel.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Payments:
Collect and process patient payments accurately and efficiently.
Verify insurance coverage and inform patients about their financial responsibilities.
Appointment Scheduling:
Schedule all follow-up appointments and procedures ordered by healthcare providers.
Coordinate with medical staff to ensure appointments align with provider availability.
Patient Communication:
Explain procedures, treatments, and follow-up care to patients, ensuring they understand what has been ordered during their visit.
Address any questions or concerns patients may have regarding their care and appointments.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the eClinicalWorks EMR system.
Ensure all patient information is confidential and compliant with HIPAA regulations.
Collaboration:
Work closely with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and other team members to ensure a cohesive patient experience.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and patient satisfaction.
Reporting:
Utilize Excel to create reports and track patient payments, appointments, and other relevant metrics.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare administrative role.
Proficient in eClinicalWorks EMR and Microsoft Excel.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Attention to detail and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
Other Requirements:
Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus.
