We are hiring immediately for a full time Chemical Operations Technician, with a culture rooted in continuous improvement, this role is mission critical. The Chemical Operations Technician (Chem Ops Tech) handles and processes explosive powders and propellants. This role is responsible for safely and efficiently handling the energetic compositions used in Pacific Scientific EMC.
Responsibilities of this position include the following:
Strict adherence to all Safety and Standard Operating Procedures
Accurate Completion of Powder blending documentation, in accordance with company and regulatory standards
Material traceability labels
Material movement logs; Powder Request Slips and Magazine/Oven transfer sheets
Magazine, Oven and Day box logs
Handling of explosive powders and propellants, including
Screening and washing of powders
Blending of explosive compositions
Bulk breakdown of 1.1 and 1.3 explosives
Breakdown of 1.1 and 1.3 explosives into increments for the production floor and test lab
Delivery of explosives and propellants to the production floor and test lab
Disposal of explosive and solvent wastes
Cleaning of equipment and transportation containers with water and/or solvents
Timely completion of assigned standard work
Participation in Safety, Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) and the IDEA! System meetings.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Read and understand written instructions.
Interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
Complete documentation with a high level of accuracy.
Prioritize tasks and work on several formulations simultaneously.
Perform mathematical calculations (percentages, addition, subtraction, division, multiplication)
2+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Previous Ordnance/Energetics experience is a plus.
High school diploma or equivalent.
