About the Role
The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President for Data Strategy and Chief Data Officer to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive data excellence strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing data as a strategic asset, supporting executive decision-making, and fostering a data-informed culture. This role involves working closely with senior leadership to leverage data for storytelling, visualizing outcomes, and ensuring that data strategies and practices are in line with industry standards. The AVP for Data Strategy will also lead the Data Coordinating Council, chair the Data Governance Committee, and collaborate with various stakeholders to drive the university's data strategy.Applicants must have a Master's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in data management, strategy, analysis, and modeling, preferably in a higher education setting. The role requires a strong technical background in data, including experience with data integration, data governance, and security, as well as expertise in data visualization tools. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data issues across multiple areas and the ability to work with large data sets. Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. The AVP for Data Strategy will be expected to uphold the core values of the University System of Georgia, which include integrity, excellence, accountability, and respect.
