The Position The Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer is responsible for providing vision and leadership to The Legal Aid Society's efforts to ensure diversity, inclusion, and equity (DEI) in all our work. This role will be key in integrating DEI strategy into organizational culture and processes.
Internal Community Engagement Partner with HR to strengthen an inclusive and diverse internal culture. Maintain an informed understanding of staff working conditions. Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure DEI values are embedded in messaging. Create and implement mandatory DEI training programs. Develop a framework for respectful conversations regarding DEI topics. Serve as a resource for staff experiencing discrimination. Strategy & Leadership Foster a culture of inclusion across all levels. Advise the executive leadership team on DEI-related issues. Support the creation and implementation of the DEI vision and strategy. Accountability, Metrics & Execution Establish and communicate clear DEI goals and KPIs. Utilize data to evaluate the effectiveness of DEI initiatives. Create systems for regular updates on DEI progress. Supervision & Management Assess current DEI operations and resources. Supervise the DEI Program Manager and operations. Manage the department budget and resources. Support staff engagement in DEI initiatives. Additional Qualifications Bachelor's degree with a minimum of ten years of relevant DEI leadership experience; JD or master's preferred. Proven track record of leading DEI initiatives within large organizations. Experience developing and implementing strategic DEI plans. Deep understanding of systemic discrimination and diverse DEI frameworks. Excellent communication and facilitation skills. Proficiency in using data to track DEI progress. Ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders. Experience in managing meaningful change. Experience in building learning systems that support DEI principles. SALARY AND BENEFITS Salary Range: $180,000-$205,000. Generous benefits package including health insurance, paid vacation, and more.
