Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team. You will be tasked with directing and managing all practices and activities in the Finance and Accounting functions to ensure compliance with State and Federal rules and regulations. You will manage the auditing, accounting, and recordkeeping activities of the credit union to ensure they meet generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP). You will also make recommendations relating to budget preparation, income forecasts, and operational changes as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in long and short-term strategic planning for the credit union.
Oversee budget planning and administration to control expenses and meet strategic objectives.
Communicate financial results and strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors and management.
Manage financial and accounting functions, including budgets, financial reporting, investments, and payroll.
Provide timely financial reports and updates to the management and board.
Manage and optimize the allocation and investment of funds.
Monitor and adjust the credit union's investment portfolio for optimal performance.
Develop and implement policies and procedures in line with GAAP and regulations.
Lead and manage the accounting/finance team, ensuring productivity and compliance.
Experience/Qualifications:
Finance Expertise:
Strong background in finance with deep understanding of financial operations and strategies.
Accounting Knowledge:
Proficient in accounting principles and General Ledgers (GLs); able to dig into financial data and resolve issues.
Asset Liability Management (ALM):
Preferably well-versed in ALM practices to balance risk and returns effectively.
Investment Acumen:
Solid experience in managing and optimizing investment portfolios.
Grant Applications:
Proven ability to apply for and manage grants.
Credit Union Familiarity:
Knowledgeable about the credit union industry, with a preference for candidates familiar with its unique financial dynamics.
