The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a pivotal member of our senior leadership team, responsible for driving ethical, strategic, and mission-focused operations and business development at our health center. The CFO plays a crucial role in ensuring the sustainability and growth of our organization while serving the needs of our community and stakeholders.
The CFO develops and enforces organizational standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring full compliance across finance, accounting, regulatory, and reimbursement operations. They are responsible for safeguarding the health center's assets and overseeing financial operations to maintain the organization's fiscal health. In this role, the CFO provides accurate and timely financial reports and statements, offering strategic advice and decision-support information to the CEO, management team, and Board of Directors. They lead with integrity, respect all individuals, uphold a commitment to excellence, and actively participate in the health center movement at local, state, and national levels.

About Us Mountain Community Health (MCH) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), providing a full spectrum of preventative and primary medical and dental care to people of all ages, regardless of insurance or the ability to pay. MCH primarily serves communities in Addison County, Vermont. The MCH team of medical providers, dentists, nurses, medical assistants, dental hygienists, behavioral health specialists, administrators, and support staff are dedicated to caring for our patients with skill, compassion, and respect. Qualifications: Minimum 7 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 4 years in senior financial leadership roles, including management experience in complex nonprofit organizations.Minimum 5 years experience working within the Healthcare industry, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) preferred.Management experience in the areas of payroll, A/P, general ledger entry, grant vouchering and purchasing.Strong utilization and understanding of accounting software (QuickBooks preferred).Proven ability to develop and implement financial strategies and manage financial operations.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Strong leadership and team management abilities.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.High level of integrity and ethical standards.Minimum bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, and/or a related field. CPA master's degree in business administration or master's degree in a Finance related field of study (preferred).Responsibilities: Drive strategic growth through monitoring of economic conditions, industry standards, and market trends. Utilize expertise in reimbursement models, key performance indicators, and policies to align financial decisions with organizational goals.Establish and enforce financial standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) 330 grant mandates.Ensure legal compliance by staying updated on federal, state, and local requirements, advising management on necessary actions.Assures that the recording of all financial data, policy and processes are compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and any other applicable standards.Provide timely and accurate financial reports, statements, and decision-support information to the CEO, Board of Directors, and management team. Identify opportunities for financial performance improvement, implementing cost-effective solutions for efficient operations.Manages cash and investment assets, maximizing returns while minimizing risk while adhering to policy, and recommend investment strategies for organizational financial health.Works in a collaborative manner with Community Partners to further MCH mission.Stays informed on industry best practices, trends, and innovative technologies to enhance financial operations.Oversees recruitment, selection, onboarding, and ongoing management and training of financial personnel to build a strong finance team.Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, tax returns and governmental agency reports.Prepares annual Health Center Program Uniform Data System (UDS) Report, Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports/Settlements.Analyzes revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded with accuracy.Promotes financial integrity upholding high standards and transparency.Oversees Procurement/Purchasing to ensure cost control.Oversees the Revenue Cycle Management Team to ensure insurance postings are occurring within our guidelines.Oversees Month End closing process, to include but not be limited to journal entries, balance sheet and bank account reconciliations.Approves contracts and agreements with suppliers, distributors, federal & state agencies, and other organizational entities.Facilitates annual audit and interfaces with auditors in cooperative and transparent manner to ensure accurate representation of MCH position.Ensures annual Single Audit requirements for 330 Grant are met.Ensures internal audits of organizational systems and procedures as part of quality efforts to assure compliance with organizational policies.Analyzes compensation policies, government regulations, and prevailing wage rates to develop competitive compensation plans.Apply Now Are you interested to learn more?
