The CIO will define and lead BHSI's efforts to harness technology resources to achieve our business objectives. The position is responsible for planning, designing, implementing and improving the company's enterprise technology strategy and has ownership of the organization's global application, infrastructure and cyber security disciplines. Overseeing a $100 million IT budget, the CIO will partner with global business leadership to understand global automation needs, formulate strategy, facilitate IT governance, ensure the delivery of a broad array of technology projects, and continue to develop a high performing IT organization.
The CIO is a member of BHSI's executive leadership team that meets weekly with BHSI's CEO. The position reports directly to BHSI's Chief Operating Officer and leads a team of approximately 700 people, including BHSI teammates and global contractors.
Primary Responsibilities Fostering development of a cohesive, productive and highly functioning IT organization that encompasses internal BHSI teammates and external resources. This includes oversight of IT workforce planning, talent acquisition, organizational structure, organizational skill mix, and personnel development.Partnering with global business and functional leadership to align our business objectives and technology investments. This includes creative problem solving to properly structure and prioritize commitments.Driving innovation across the IT organization, being inquisitive and providing leadership that fosters the need to challenge ourselves, push for continuous improvement, and understand lessons learned when mistakes are made.Developing the annual IT budget, overseeing expenditures and maintaining a deep understanding of all components of the IT budget, their drivers, and trends.Overseeing the operation and ongoing evolution of our global network and computing platform, including computers, mobile devices, networks, applications, databases and collaboration tools.Ensuring that IT projects are managed with clear expectations, detailed plans, and transparency.Developing and overseeing relationships with critical IT partners and vendors, promoting 'win-win' synergies that allow BHSI to achieve our business objectives more effectively.Ensuring that the IT organization complies with requisite processes and IT discipline to properly protect our organization and its assets. This includes focusing on audit expectations, data privacy, cyber security, and global regulatory expectations (SOX, CBI, APRA, MAS, NYDFS, GDPR) as well as driving IT Risk Management activities and ensuring alignment with global business continuity and disaster recovery plans.Background & Qualifications The CIO must be deeply skilled in leading large, multidisciplinary IT organizations with global footprints. They must have a strong understanding of the Commercial Insurance business and experience handling global business challenges. A demonstrated aptitude for developing credibility with global business and functional leadership is also critical.
The CIO must have proven leadership, people management and organizational development expertise. This position is accountable for fostering the continued growth of the IT organization while integrating resources from BHSI, our consulting vendors, and solution providers. The CIO must be comfortable working and partnering in a matrixed environment while maintaining strong accountability.
The CIO must possess effective communication and collaboration skills, working upwards, outwards and downwards. This goes hand-in-hand with outstanding leadership skills, a collaborative style and the ability to plan in both short- and long-term increments.
The CIO must have experience providing technical and architectural oversight to a complex computing platform. This includes cloud computing, development architectures, SaaS solutions, network infrastructure and collaboration tools. Without being an expert in these areas, the CIO will need to facilitate technical analysis, assess project plans, and identify interdependencies.
The ideal candidate will also have a record of successes as a change agent, a demonstrable history of managing a set of complex and often competing objectives, and clear experience in IT governance, planning, budgeting, and portfolio management. They should be a hands-on executive who brings cultural awareness and a company-first approach to BHSI.
