A well-established Several Billion AUM Investment Management firm in the Washington, D.C. region is looking to hire a Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to their team.
The firm has been around for nearly 25 years and encompasses several different funds, all focusing on different strategies/industries within the buyside.
This individual would report directly to the CEO, a highly reputable individual within the local community, and would be expected to oversee fund performance for all parts of the business. This individual would also have the chance to help spearhead the launch of any future funds.
Timing for this role is ideally a 2025 Q1 start, but the firm can have some flexibility for the right person.

Responsibilities:Lead the Investment Committee with the CEO.Monitor Fund Presidents and Managing Directors - their investment processes, teams, and performance.In conjunction with the CEO, responsible for the creation of new Funds.Assist Fund Presidents and CEO with continuing to develop overall investment strategy for the funds.Member of the Investment Committee.Review and analyze all models to assure they have the correct assumptions and calculations in order to make investment decisions.Analyze the identified key risks and pricing in order to make investment decisions.Make exiting decisions when necessary.Responsible for managing the growth of the portfolio for all funds.Report on the performance and investment activities of the funds and its managing directors to the Board of Directors.Travel to visit current and prospective investment sites.Requirements:BA or BS, College degree from an accredited university.Degree in Finance or Accounting (a bonus).MBA (a bonus).Credit training in a lending institution's training program (a bonus).Ten years or more of relevant lending experience in senior, subordinated, and mezzanine loans to small and middle market portfolio companies.Strong background in underwriting the credit of small and medium-sized businesses.Good working knowledge of Excel and Word.Ability to analyze investment committee presentations.Ability to develop, communicate, and focus on key issues in complex situations.Excellent knowledge of financial reports.Extensive contacts in the buyout business.Experience with problem loans and companies.Experience in a specific industry or lending in a specific geographic area (a bonus).
