Hackley Community Care (HCC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center located along the beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline in Muskegon, Michigan. Our staff of 300 brings comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral health and support services to families in greatest need in Muskegon County and surrounding areas.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Medical Officer provides oversight and direction in the clinical patient care services provided by Hackley Community Care (HCC). Responsible for providing clinical leadership, fostering superior quality patient care, developing clinical strategic goals, and providing help and direction for the recruitment and retention of the medical staff at HCC. This individual works collaboratively with the Chief Medical Operations Officer and Medical Director to ensure that care is provided consistent with accepted professional standards and provides direct oversight of physicians.
The Chief Medical Officer works cooperatively and effectively with HCC's senior leadership team, while utilizing a balanced and collaborative approach to include the perspective of all disciplines involved in HCC's health services. This will ensure the achievement of HCC's annual business, strategic goals, and objectives. The Chief Medical Officer will also participate in providing direct clinical care to a panel of patients during required clinical time in compliance with established clinical protocols.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to): Establishes and/or maintains working and collaborative relationships in the health provider community. Promotes an understanding of HCC's mission and services.Participates in annual strategic planning based on the health and epidemiology of the community and HCC patients. Implements the quality pillars, goals, and measurable outcomes of HCC's strategic plan.Serves as internal physician liaison developing strong and trusting relationships with HCC physicians and other medical providers to foster provider retention.Direct responsibility for all clinical provider staff at HCC to include recruitment, orientation, development, clinical supervision, evaluation, quality oversight, and ensures adherence to policies and procedures.Leads others by fostering teamwork; empowering and developing team members; coaching, mentoring, feedback, and accountability; engaging and recognizing contributions; leveraging diversity, equity, and inclusion; resolving conflicts and managing performance.Develops, modifies, prepares, and completes annual performance appraisals for physicians, oversees the provider performance, quality of care, patient satisfaction, and productivity programs and incentives.Monitors and evaluates direct reports and makes recommendations to the CEO for provider discipline, compliance issues, suspension, and termination in accordance with the HCC policy.Provides overall direction and coordination of continuing medical education, training, and support for health care personnel.Exhibits leadership, professionalism, and the core values of HCC: Quality, Integrity, Respect and Compassion.Seeks out educational opportunities, stays current with trends, and implements appropriate changes within area of responsibility.Develop and implement communication protocols to ensure adequate information flow within the organization.Provides leadership, vision, and direction in developing new medical service delivery areas for HCC.Participates in the formulation and/or revision of medical program/clinical services policies, protocols, and guidelines.Works with Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer to develop HCC budget.Prepares and recommends qualifications for credentialing and privileging, job descriptions and evaluation standards for all clinical personnel.Works collaboratively with the Chief Human Resource Officer for short and long-term recruitment and retention strategies for providers.Fosters a strong and trusting relationship between and among senior management team, providers, and medical staff.Oversees the process of provider stay interviews, mentoring, and on-going oversight of provider staff with CHRO and CEO.Responsible for Physician assignments, rotations, call schedules, coverage, and time off.QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES: Graduate from an accredited medical school program.Current licensures to practice medicine in the State of Michigan.Insurable for liability coverage as a primary care physician in the State of Michigan.Management or leadership training and/or experience.Must maintain board certification or be Board eligible with completion of certification within 2 years of residency training and/or graduation.Evidence of professional growth (CME's/CEU's) consistent with licensure requirement for State of Michigan.Five or more years' experience in a clinical or administrative capacity.Professional knowledge / experience in primary care delivery systems and/or integrated health systems.Proven ability to build collaborative, trusting and respectful relationships within a community and with community partners and stakeholders.Outstanding oral and written communication skills.A cultivated leader with the ability to highly demonstrate the values of HCC.A strategic and innovative leader with the ability to look for and seize opportunities to provide services to patients.BENEFITS: HCC offers a competitive salary and benefits package which includes:
