The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) reports directly to the SVP/Chief Medical Officer/Chief Strategy Officer.
He/she is the primary leader responsible for the oversight of the functions related to the quality of care, throughput, safety, efficiency, access, and the overall performance of medical staff operations within the hospital, network, and outpatient clinics in the corresponding market.
This position requires a deep understanding of hospital operations, medical management, care management, and medical staff operations including peer review.
Proven expertise in quality management, safety, and clinical effectiveness is essential.
As a key member of the leadership team, the CMO is accountable for leading in a manner consistent with the organization's mission, values, leadership model, and customer service philosophy.
The CMO assists the SVP and System CMO in developing and implementing programs, policies, and procedures that span the continuum of care from ambulatory to inpatient and post-acute, with a focus on achieving strategic objectives and ensuring that the overall quality of medical care delivered meets or exceeds current medical standards, both in substance and perception, while adhering to pertinent health plan policies, guidelines, and benefits.
As System Medical Executive for Surgical Procedural Services, this part of the role focuses on driving revenue-generating growth, quality improvement, and utilization management within surgical services across all three PIH Health hospitals.
The medical executive will be responsible for establishing system-wide strategies to optimize surgical service line performance, enhance patient outcomes, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
